Best available techniques
High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Environmental Statement, Glossary, abbreviations and references, published by the Department for Transport in 2022, defines best available techniques as: ‘The available techniques which are the best for preventing or minimising emissions and impacts on the environment. Techniques include both the technology used and the way an installation is designed, built, maintained, operated and decommissioned.’
